Storyplanet newsletter has undergone a makeover!

Hello friends,

Today's newsletter is simply to update you on the new look of the newsletters that will follow in the next weeks. I have been doing some 'tidying up' on the site and am excited to share the new look with you.

Many of you will be familiar with my sci-fi thriller 'Attack on Planet Falrus' but may not know about my love of african folklore. Well, here's to lots of content on both genres.

What do you think? Does this image combine african storytelling with a sense of space/sci-fi? Do let me know! I am curious what you think about it.

And have I got news for you! :)

I have a thrilling sci-fi Space Odyssey book to recommend to you this mid-October. Do go and check it out. It is Richard Rimington's 'The Survivors'. The plot is similar to my own book 'Attack on Planet Falrus' where a powerful enemy wants to come in and destroy the hitherto peaceful nature of the planet. Will peace reign supreme in the end? Find out by clicking the link below, to Richard's 'The Survivors'!

Do check out my storytelling/author website 'Storyplanet' by clicking here below:

I do hope you enjoy what you see there, and I look forward to many years of entertaining you with my stories and books from both genres.

And oh, if you like fantasy books, not necessarily based in Space, but if urban fantasy is more your thing, then look no further than Winter Branford's books. And you know the best part? She is offering a free book to anyone that subscribes to her newsletter. Don't let this generous offer pass you by! Go subscribe by clicking below:

Dear health-conscious friends, You stand up. And suddenly… Your vision narrows. Your ears ring. The room tilts for a second. Maybe you even grab the wall like you’re in a low-budget disaster movie. Then — just as quickly — it passes. So what just happened? Did your brain briefly “switch off”? Not quite. But it did run low on fuel. Here’s the simple physics. When you’re lying or sitting, gravity isn’t fighting your circulation very much. Blood is evenly distributed. The moment you stand,...

Storyplanet african folktales and sci-fi

Dear Spacetravellers, Sci-fi loves the dramatic version of invasion: ships appear, lasers fire, cities explode, heroes run. But if you strip away the movie magic and ask a doctor’s favourite question — “OK… but biologically and logistically, what would really happen?” — planetary war looks very different. And honestly? Much quieter. Much slower. Much more terrifying. Because real invasions aren’t about explosions. They’re about physics and supply chains. First: forget landing troops...

Dear health-conscious friends, If you find it strangely easy to scroll TikTok at midnight but strangely difficult to fall asleep afterwards, you are not alone. Modern screens are fantastic at keeping our brains awake long after our bodies would prefer to be asleep. Here is what is actually going on and what to do about it, without moving to a cabin in the woods. The light problem: blue light and melatonin The first issue is physics. Screens emit a high proportion of blue wavelengths, which...
